Exercise Video of the Week: Mastering the Superman Pushup

syattfitnesslogoThe Superman Pushup is one of my favorite “core” exercises. It’s a phenomenal anti-extension drill that will absolutely destroy your abs. I generally prefer to include it near the tail-end of my lower body training sessions for 2-4 sets of 6-12 reps.

Looking for a new exercise to shake up your training? Give the Superman Pushup a shot.

Heya! I’ve been trying these push-ups for some days nnow. It seems to be working out fine, though with the last few reps some days ago, I believe I’ve hurt my broad back muscle a bit. Do you have any experience with this as to how to take care of injuries? Besides letting time do it’s thing 😉

  • Gidday Jordan,
Even thought I am nearing 70 I have been doing these for quite some time now as I need to keep my back and core strong. I used a progression of core exercises over a period of a good few months to get to the stage where I could pump out 20 or more. I do have one question though. I note at the end of each rep you go right to the floor and basically stop the movement rather than what I do which is continuous reps. Would you like to comment on this please.
    Thanks – John Falkinder.
